From the mouths of my babes!

I am really finding it difficult to find things to post! I guess this just wasn't something I was designed to do. :) Anyway, I thought since my children always have the greatest things to communicate, I'd try and keep a record and post them here.

First a little background: Logan has had a certain kind of, ahem, infection on the underside of his penis (or as Logan refers to it...potty-area). This has been the case for 2-3 weeks. I never really paid attention to the first date he brought it to my attention, I just thought, "ok, better keep an eye on that" and then forgot until a few days later when he showed me again. At that point I decided that maybe I should put Lotrim on it because if I took him to the doctors, that's what he'd tell me to do (I just know our pediatrician well!). Well after a couple weeks of using the cream, some days look better and other days looked awful. So I decided to take him in. This is where my kids like to say things that embarrass me in public...

In the waiting room at the office, Logan announces (to anyone that is listening) "I've got, I've got, I've got (you get the point) an owey on my potty area!" Chuckles emerged from all directions and the nurse that had just called for him joined in. :) Then, as we were putting our coats on in the waiting room right before leaving, Madison asks "So did the doctor say what was wrong with Logan's penis?" Only one man was left at this point and he proceeded to tell me about how his daughter called some big Harley dude, fat, at the urinals in a men's public bathroom.

So I left the doctor's office several shades darker red in the face than I'd have liked. Oh, and the first thing the doctor asked me was "You said you've been using Lotrim and that hasn't worked?" I am so glad that after three kids, I am getting this home-nurse business down. (For example, when the kids break a fever I no longer go rushing to the doctors. I remember with Madison, she was just a couple months old and she threw up in the early morning hours and I panicked and rushed her to the doctors, only to find out it was gastroenteritis! I am still embarressed and I hope our doctor doesn't remember THAT one!)

Christmas in February (and March and April...)

Yesterday, my son Logan (3) chose to watch Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. This is not an unusual selection for him. In the middle of summer, he often chooses movies such as How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Dora's Christmas Adventure and he's even picked out Frosty the Snowman at the library! I added A Christmas Story to our collection in December. I hope he picks that soon so I have an excuse to watch it. :)

Anyhow, when my oldest daughter Madison (6) spilled an entire glass of apple juice at breakfast, I decided that the floor was officially in need of a good scrubbing. It had probably been a couple months. So when Logan put Rudolph in the VCR (yes, we still have one of those as well!) I put Sammie (13 months) down for a much needed nap so I could wash the floor. My kitchen floor is hardwood and I take pride in getting them nice and clean. I do not take this task lightly! So, I put my old high-school volleyball knee pads on over my ratty sweats, grabbed a rag and floor cleaner and went at it, on my hands and knees. One of the most pleasing moments to cleaning my kitchen floor is the first time Logan decides he needs to move from point a (the family room) to point b (the playroom). If you know Logan, the term walk don't run means nothing. He sprints! So yesterday, when Rudolph ended, he jumped up as usual and ran for the playroom. And he wiped out about 3 steps into the kitchen. :) The joy! I love it because the scene is really funny to watch since it is so predictable and also because it verifies to me that my floor is as clean as can be. There have been times when nobody falls and I know I must have done a lazy job. I must have done a super job yesterday because even Madison has taken a tumble and I almost wiped out myself, this morning! Ross hasn't fallen yet (but that has happened during past cleanings). Maybe by the end of the day...

Intro to blogging...

Welcome to my blog. This entry is going to be extremely boring. I am just getting used to the idea of having a blog! I look forward to learning all the features I can include on it. I don't even know what I will be writing about in the future!
